Why rigid core

The waterproof floor that feels solid underfoot.

01 / Waterproof

100% waterproof construction

A solid rigid core and tight click-lock seams mean spills, pet accidents, steam and humidity simply wipe up — no swelling, no warping. Safe for kitchens, baths, laundries and basements.

02 / Rigid core

Stone-composite stability

The SPC core stays dead-flat and dent-resistant, so it won't telegraph an imperfect subfloor the way thin, flexible glue-down vinyl can — and it feels solid, not hollow, underfoot.

Good to know

Waterproof rigid core, answered.

What is rigid core / SPC flooring?
SPC stands for stone-plastic composite. It's a waterproof vinyl plank built on a dense mineral core, topped with a realistic wood-look layer and a clear wear layer. The planks click together as a floating floor — 100% waterproof, and more rigid and dent-resistant than thin, flexible LVT.
Is it really 100% waterproof?
Yes — the rigid core can't absorb water, so spills, pet accidents, steam and humidity won't swell or warp the planks. That makes it safe for kitchens, baths, laundry rooms and basements. (Severe subfloor moisture still needs to be managed; our team will advise on prep.)
SPC vs. LVT vs. laminate — what's the difference?
Laminate has a wood-fiber core that can swell if water sits on it. Flexible glue-down LVT is thin and tends to follow every dip in the subfloor. SPC rigid core is both waterproof and rigid — so it hides minor subfloor imperfections, feels solid (not hollow) underfoot, and shrugs off water.
Can I install it in a basement?
Yes — rigid core is one of the best basement floors you can buy. Its waterproof core floats right over concrete and handles below-grade humidity and temperature swings. Just acclimate the planks per the spec sheet, and we'll confirm the right line for your space.
What does the wear layer (20 / 22 / 32 mil) mean?
The wear layer is the clear protective top that resists scratches, scuffs and dents — the higher the mil, the tougher it is. 20–22 mil handles busy family homes; 32 mil (like Citadel's Ceramic Shield) stands up to pets, kids and light commercial traffic.
How much flooring do I need?
Measure your room's length × width for square footage, then add about 10% for cuts and waste. Each product page lists the sq ft per box. Not sure? Call 201-300-0300 and we'll help you calculate it.
